The Short Version

• AI features: When you use voice transcription, topic-based article generation, or AI article cleanup, the audio or text needed for that request is sent to our AI providers. We ask for your explicit consent before that data is sent.
• Free users: Outside of AI feature requests, your reading content, progress, and quiz scores stay on your device only.
• Paid users: Outside of AI feature requests, we sync your content and progress to our servers so you can access it across devices.
• We never sell your data. We use third party services for authentication, payments, AI features, and potentially analytics. Each has its own privacy practices.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

Account Information
When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and display name from those services. We do not store passwords. Authentication is handled entirely by Google or Apple.

Content You Import (Paid Users)
If you subscribe to Devoro Premium, we store the content you import (URLs, PDFs, EPUBs, text) on our servers to enable multi device sync. If you choose to use AI article cleanup, the article text needed for that request is sent to our AI providers after we ask for your explicit consent. This stored sync data includes:

• Imported articles and documents
• AI generated articles you create
• Reading progress and history
• Quiz scores and certifications

Content You Import (Free Users)
If you use Devoro for free, your imported content, reading progress, and quiz scores are stored locally on your device only. If you choose to use voice transcription or topic-based article generation, the text or audio needed for that request is sent to our AI providers after we ask for your explicit consent. We otherwise do not have access to your local-only reading data.

Information Collected Automatically

Device Identifiers
We generate an anonymous user ID to operate the app. This ID is not linked to your personal identity unless you create an account.

Usage Analytics (Future)
We may implement analytics to understand how the app is used. If we do, we will use privacy respecting tools and update this policy accordingly.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide and maintain the Devoro service
• Sync your content across devices (paid users)
• Process AI feature requests, including voice transcription, topic-based article generation, and AI article cleanup
• Process subscription payments
• Respond to support requests
• Improve the app based on aggregated, anonymized usage patterns

We do not sell your personal data, use your content to train AI models, or share your reading habits with advertisers.

3. Third Party Services

Devoro uses the following third party services:

When you request an AI feature, we send only the data needed to fulfill that request after we ask for your explicit consent. This can include a voice recording for transcription, a topic or custom learning prompt for topic-based article generation, or imported article text for AI article cleanup. We do not send your synced reading history, quiz scores, or broader imported library to AI providers.

AI-Powered Features

Devoro uses named third-party AI providers for specific feature requests: OpenAI (Whisper) for voice transcription, Google (Gemini) and/or Anthropic (Claude) for topic-based article generation, and Google (Gemini) for AI article cleanup.

We send only the audio or text needed to fulfill your request, and we ask for your explicit consent before that data is sent. Provider handling follows each provider's privacy policy.

4. Data Storage and Security

Where We Store Data
Our servers are located in the European Union (via Supabase's EU infrastructure). We may add additional server locations in the future to improve performance.

How We Protect Data
We use industry standard security measures including:

• Encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL)
• Encrypted data storage at rest
• Secure authentication via OAuth 2.0
• Regular security updates

While we implement reasonable safeguards, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

5. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data (right to be forgotten)
• Export your data in a portable format
• Object to certain processing
• Withdraw consent at any time

Data Retention

• We retain your data as long as your account is active
• Upon account deletion, we delete your personal data within 30 days
• We may retain anonymized, aggregated data for analytics purposes

6. Children's Privacy

Devoro is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at privacy@devoro.app and we will delete it.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will:

• Update the "Last updated" date at the top
• Notify you through the app or via email

Your continued use of Devoro after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
